The film was presented in the festival’s Horizons section, following its award-winning premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The movie follows the extraordinary journey of Itto, a young pregnant woman whose seemingly idyllic life takes a dramatic turn when a powerful storm unleashes a chain of enigmatic events, blending elements of dystopian uprising, environmental calamity and an impending apocalyptic reckoning.

Animalia intertwines the realms of sci-fi disaster, road movie and spiritual odyssey, skilfully weaving a thought-provoking critique of Moroccan society with profound introspection into the very essence of existence.
